Last year I was apprehensive when the Autumn months were approaching as I really think my mental health strives during the summer months but this year I am all for the coldness. Especially the snuggling with Lee under a big duvet, bowl popcorn and Hocus Pocus on the screen! 

This year I also have more things to fill my time with and concentrating on ways to improve my mental health.

Hello October - Times Are Changing For The Better

Hello October - The temperatures have officially dropped and I'm loving it.. at night when all wrapped up cosy in bed not so much the early mornings when I'm getting up to attend a course from Glow and I'm shivering even with ten layers on. I feel so incredibly lucky to be doing a class with them as it benefits my mental health getting into a routine and it's been so amazing meeting new people and gaining more confidence in myself. Plus it gives me an excuse to leave even earlier in the morning to sneak in some writing and a hot chocolate. 

This month I plan on taking part in Blogtober which means writing a blog post everyday. I've written a few already but with my laptop charger having went kaput and then my phone breaking it's meant I haven't been able to post much online or write as much as I'd like. I never realised before how much I relied on both to keep me entertained until I didn't have either at the tips of my fingertips, it has made me appreciate taking time away from the screen though. 

There are so many topics I want to write about and highlight this month especially as October is home for so many awareness campaigns which include OCD and Domestic Violence. Both of which are very personal to me. 

Another reason I'm trying to focus so much on blogging everyday is because I have my last counselling session this week and it fills me with so much anxiety about what will happen when it stops but last week my counsellor told me that I'm already putting into action and doing what I need to. Each session is 50 minutes long and in a week (I got Lee to work this out) there are 10080 minutes, so whilst I was worried about how to occupy my time instead of counselling, it really is a small portion of the week compared to how many minutes there are between sessions especially if all tools and coping mechanisms are applied from each session. Going to counselling is something I never normally mention or write about because I'm always so weary about peoples reactions and how much I share online but it's something I want to write about more. 

I've so looking forward to writing more on Voluptuous Chatterbox and have a new design in mind for it and also have posts from August and September to rewrite and share. It's going to be a busy month!

Bestie Breakup - How I'm Moving on From One and 5+ Tips So You Can Too

There were no raised voices, no drinks spilled and no rapid texting session, that's the way it normally happens on TV right? On New Year's Eve after a video call with my boyfriend, I was about to message my friend when I noticed on Facebook it said "Add Friend" I'd slowly been removed from all forms of social media. It seemed my besties and I relationship was well and truly over and I know a lot had happened that brought it to this.

Is there anything worse than a bestie breakup though? Even if you expect it's coming but still hold out a little hope whilst it feels you're clutching at straws checking in with them, it's a brutal heartwrenching feeling knowing you're losing them! What's worse is you can't even give them a text and explain what's happening with you because you're having problems with THEM!

Is it the memories you make together, funny memes you share, buying flip flops as your feet are burning after a night out dancing, or is it sharing the serious stuff that's been happening in your life, discussing your mental health, career or how you've been feeling since lockdown. Is it not sharing that stuff that causes a problem? Feeling like you can't discuss your mental health with them then the friendship fizzles out as you sink further down into lockdown life as there's no dating tales or coffee catch ups happening.

It was a lot to process for me when it happened as I kept thinking about all the things that happened during the time of our friendship but I've come to realise 6 months later that sometimes these things happen and I wish her the best. It has taken me time to move on and be okay with leaving it in the past and as I know it can be quite a lot when you're going through it I thought I'd write 5+ tips to help you adjust; 

1) Don't look for closure

It's natural to look for a way to find closure but the truth is, there's no quick fix! It has to come from you and it will if you give yourself time to adjust. Try different distraction techniques to take your mind of things for awhile, read your favourite book, watch a movie or even take your self on a walk to help clear your head. 

2) Write them a letter

If you're struggling and want to really to let it out, feeling angry at how things ended then consider writing it all down. Let all the words out as bottling them up can only make you feel worse but you don't need to necessarily send them the letter. 

3) Keep their stuff

If you have a few items belonging to your ex-bestie, keep them in case they message wanting them back! There's nothing worse than binning something in anger then having to explain where it is! If they really want the items - they'll be in touch! I suggest giving yourself a time frame and if they don't message within that then get rid. I know it's harsh but if you've been removed from social media? The strings have been cut and there may be no other way to get in touch. 

4) Forget about chasing them

Nobody wants a friendship to end, but don't put in more effort than necessary trying to recover what's been lost.

5) Give Yourself Time 

There's no rush in finding another bestie, take some time out and recharge yourself. Think about starting a new hobby, put your time and effort into something positive. 

6) No badmouthing zone

Even if the friendship ended on bad terms or quietly sizzled out, remember to have dignity, keep their secrets, and don't talk about them negatively. Remember the good times, the fun moments, and everything you else you both shared. Remain respectful and have hope they will to. 

7) Try not to search their social media

I know it's hard, if you're like me who doesn't look at someone's social media then it's good but if you there are options to unfollow them but remain friends or else try to not get their updates incase it hurts looking at them being out with new friends. 

8) Accept It

I know it can be hard to accept but, given time, all wounds will eventually heal. And if they have already removed you from all platforms of social media, they have already come to terms with it - they will rebuild on their own, and so can you!

Hello March -

The sun is shining and the skies are blue, is there anything better right now? I can feel the heat from it against my face and  I know for a fact in about three hours my cheeks will be lit up like Rudolph's nose at Christmas. It's really hard not to smile, even in the middle of a lockdown there's something about warmer, brighter days and seeing the changes in seasons as we get closer to Spring. 

For February, I had so many plans. I was excited - my whole month of blogging was planned out and I had things to look forward to, the main one being my first Valentine's with Lee, I applied for a course about Women in Leadership and I also wanted to bake.. lots. 

Instead of all that blogging and baking though, I spent nearly every day watching suits, playing candy crush, or Pokemon Go and it feels like I wasted an entire month. I'm trying to not be too hard on myself but firm that this month there are things I want to achieve and I need to start working towards them. 

For instance, instead of shredding all my ideas from February, I can upcycle them, instead of constantly watching suits I can take a break from that and read the books I need for authors as I'm past deadlines.... and also I'm on season 8 of suits and there's only 9 in total. 

I needed an escape in February and Netflix provided that, it seems that every time I hear our government is going to be making an announcement regarding the lockdown my anxiety skyrockets, I avoid Facebook, my phone, and my motivation just zaps into thin air. I know I'm not the only one feeling this way and it's a daily struggle for everyone though. I hope we are able to get out and about soon when it's safe to do so.

Hello February

February has always been an inspirational month for me with so many ideas bursting to be written but this year? I have so many ideas and feel little to no motivation to actually get them typed up. I miss heading out with my notebook in hand and sitting enjoying a hot chocolate in my local Del Pieros or Tim Hortons.

But I'm trying so hard not to dwell on the fact it could be a few months before that's possible and I'm pushing myself to get these posts published!

January Refresh - 

- I was slow in the blogging department and by slow I published 2 posts although I have however watched 18 Marvel Movies and the next one is Doctor Strange which I'm very excited about. 

- It's taken me a over a full month to read Bridgerton but I hope only a couple more days if I get peace and quiet to finish it. 

- I won £100 worth of stuff from Benji's over on Twitter and I''ll be sharing it all on my Insta stories this week! From coasters, a heavy throw to some really cute mugs I love all the goodies especially as I'm in the midst of having a major clearout and can't wait for everything to have it's own place. 

- I downloaded Pokemon Go which has really motivated to get out and walk more and am really enjoying doing the research quests in the game.

February - 

- I'm going to push myself to write more this month and really get a handle on my blogging including celebrating 10 years since I started my book blog A Bookish Redhead and have so many exciting things planned. 

- Walking 200,000 in February sounds easy right? Cause that's what I'm going to try and accomplish so I need it to sound easy though it really doesn't! I'm off to a poor start but am not gonna let it get the best off me! 

- Finish my bedroom and clearout! I stillhave a few frames to hang and little bits and pieces to add so I'm hoping I can add the finishing touches this month!

Welcome to Voluptuous Chatterbox - Goals & Plans for the Year Ahead

Welcome to Voluptuous Chatterbox, I thought I'd write a little intro for 2021 with what to expect on the blog this year, my goals, and what I learned last year. 

First things first, what did I learn last year? 


That DA scores apparently mean alot to some brands and not that much to others. It just all depends on the brand itself, my DA score fluctuated so much last year that I became slightly obsessed with monitoring it until I told myself to let it go and continue blogging. 

I make that sound alot easier than it was, it seemed almost every place I looked though people were always posting about it and I even saw one comment that basically said if you didn't have a certain figure then just stop. It felt so disheartening but in all my years of blogging that's never been something I've been interested in nor do I understand most of it, my little space has always been a place for me to share my thoughts, feelings, and daily goings-on. I do want to look into what it all means and try to understand it abit better though. 

What to expect this month:

I've made a start to 2021 by organising my posts and ideas for the month ahead and so far I'm more prepared than I've ever been, which I hope will continue. I'm focusing on week to week instead of month to month, something which Katie from Life with KTKinnes recommended back in December to do. It's less stressful and allows time not to feel overwhelmed or stressed. I've always been someone that tried to plan so far in the future that I hardly got any writing done as I was so busy writing lists and ideas before realising the month was nearly over.

This month includes tips for when you're meeting the parents, a couple little early (and easy) Valentine's Day baking treats as well as the ultimate Veggie Friendly Hot chocolate at home! 

What to expect this year? 

Continuing on from what I mentioned above, I'm not going to try and plan out what to expect this year apart from more dating and relationship related content, more beauty and fashion and hopefully days out in the summer! I would love to go on some summery dates and trips away with Lee to enjoy the sunshine! 

My goals include 

- posting regularly on social media
- taking time out to read blogs 
- to focus on writing things that I want without worrying about others opinions 


What I learnt last year? 

I learnt alot about myself and the people around me, I'm stronger than I've ever been and I will no longer tolerate those that don't have my best interests at heart or are happy for my accomplishments, no matter how much it hurts to say goodbye to them, I know sometimes it's for the best. I want to surround myself with positive and like-minded people who can be happy for each other and cheer each other on when we need it most. 

What to expect this month? 

I'm trying to organise my time more beneficially and not take on too many things that I so often do because I don't like saying no to someone, so this month I'm going to start saying no to things I don't want to do or that I know I don't have time for. 

There are so many books I have that I've not read so I'm planning on having my yearly book clearout and sort through all the books I want to read next on my TBR and then make sure I take time to read them! 

What to expect this year..

Last year I focused so much on my mental health and finances that I want to continue practising self-care and looking after myself both physically and mentally. This year I want to focus on the career aspect of things and fight through my anxiety including my blogging and strengthening the relationships I have in my life. 

My goals include: 

- pay off a debt
- be more physically active 
- try different foods
- wear more of what I want to wear

There are a few more goals I could write but they are what I'm focusing on and I don't want to write so many that I don't accomplish none.

Happy New Year - A Look Back at 2020

Happy New Year, I hope you had a safe but fun start to the new year. My plans involved watching Cursed, a new to me series on Netflix to fill my Bridgerton sized gap, and eating a giant Toblerone before my boyfriend surprised me with a video call at midnight.

I've started writing "Looking back on 2020 I'm sure we can all say it's been a..." but no words will come because how do you describe 2020? Each of us as individuals went through the same thing but reacted to it very differently, we experienced it together though alone. The pandemic has changed everything, I don't even know what "normal" looks like anymore so when someone mentions "getting back to normal" I'm not entirely sure I want to go back but more I want to move forward. 

I wanted to make 2020 the year of focusing on the financial side of my life and I did, I managed to pay off two debts that I got into from an abusive relationship which feels like a huge weight off my shoulders. The pandemic made me focus on my mental health massively and I have made so many breakthroughs in the last year, reaching out for help, dealing with past trauma, and also sharing apart of that on Voluptuous Chatterbox to be more open about the experiences I've been through. 

My year for blogging went pretty well and I've written about topics such as Fashion, beauty, lifestyle to even gamer dating. Check out my blogging highlights below. 

In the very first post 2020 - The Past, The Future & The Present I detailed all that I wanted to achieve in the year ahead before writing 10 Pieces of Advice I Would Have Given Myself 10 Years Ago.

A new topic I enjoyed writing more off in 2020 was my dating and relationship experiences. From my biggest dating disaster stories (definitely read if you want a giggle) to my first ever virtual date attempt including a few in-person dates such as crazy golfing and bowling to a pizza date, I had so much fun getting out of my comfort zone and sharing a part of my life I rarely do online. 

My five favourite blog posts of 2020 include 

I've been planning my January/February blogging and have a few ideas which I'm really excited about sharing as this year I want to really focus my energy on writing, trying new things, and also continuing to concentrate on my finances and strengthening the relationships I have with my family and friends. 

2020 was and will always be a pretty special year for me now as I met my boyfriend, never did I imagine that messaging a man back in January on a dating app would lead to a few dates, virtually dating them through lockdowns to coming out the other end, and now over 3 months into a happy, healthy relationship. He's changed my life for the better and made me appreciate who I am inside and out including introducing me to so many new things such as attending Crusaders football matches, twitch streaming communities, and a relaxed, laidback side to myself which I very much like! (Read some of our dating adventures above)

For now, I'm going to sign off as this blog post has taken me about 4 hours to write thanks to Ethan my cat who decided to knock everything off the unit, try and eat paper to then giving me evils! I think someones feeling neglected.
