My Romantic City Break at the Fitzwilliam Hotel in Belfast is something I am very excited about to share below. This Hotel has always been something to stand out for me in the city.
Towering over its surrounding buildings which include The Grand Opera House, The Fitzwilliam Hotel stands out with an array of beautiful twinkling lights which I always crane my neck to admire when near. A hotel I’ve only ever dreamt of staying in until earlier September past.
Lee and I celebrated our two-year anniversary on the 8th of September and we decided to celebrate our relationship by staying here and making sure to take time out to spend with each other and enjoyed every minute. We kicked off our anniversary stay by heading to Tim Hortons where we had our first date all the way back in January 2020 to grab some Hot Chocolate and Timbits then to Fountain Lane for some dinner, a place I call ‘our restaurant’ because every time we have a celebration we always go here.
The decor of the Fitzwilliam is rich, dreamy, and very soothing with different shades of blush. The staff are so helpful and friendly at every point of communication and made us feel so relaxed.
The room we stayed in was beautiful, the sofa was lush and all the little extras that Fitzwilliam offered made it so much better. With a tealight and a little box of matches in the bathroom to even provide branded breath mints, playing cards, and stationary it had everything you could possibly imagine.
As a treat, we ordered room service for breakfast and it was incredible, normally when I’m heading out for breakfast I get anxious about how much to eat as I would usually opt for a croissant and toast but I always feel nervous going back up for more which is one of the reasons we did it this way and we’ve never ordered room service so we thought why not? Take a look at the amazing brekkie below, the second morning we got breakfast was definitely better when we asked for extra toast they definitely delivered and gave us what we requested. Sitting in bed with Lee after he’d pushed the trolley in eating breakfast I felt my whole body relax and I was smiling, because for the first time in what felt like a long time I was able to enjoy the moment and let everything else fall away and it was what I needed.
For dinner, we decided to order pizza for dinner and stayed in bed the whole day playing animal crossing on the switch and Uno. A game that I’m sure he is fed up with playing as I always want “one more game” after losing each one.
All in all, I would recommend staying here, one of the best places I’ve ever stayed and we’ve talked about going back, especially around Christmas time which is a time I’ve always wanted to stay here although we don’t know when that will be. The only thing I would change next time is asking for a no-turn-down service. This was something I’d never heard about and it left me feeling rather uncomfortable knowing the room had been accessed when we’d been out. But, this is just a personal choice and I know of many who love this.
